Changes at Fair Play

by John Kelin

This is the first of the new Fair Plays --- which means there is nothing new here.

As explained in the previous issue, time demands have led me to curtail Fair Play operations. Frankly, there is also the sense that this web site has gone about as far as it can go.

There was no great outcry that Fair Play is more or less being shelved, and that is as it should be. However, a number of people did write to express their appreciation to me. That was rather gratifying, and while I did not reply to all of those correspondents individually, I would like to acknowledge them here.

A few people asked me to be sure to include their messages in the next "Reader Feedback" section. I had mixed feelings about that, because it seemed so self-serving. But before I could decide anything, fate intervened. I was at the time breaking in a new computer. Due to my own ineptness I had to re-install a bunch of system software, and managed to wipe out a large mass of email in the process. This included those that came to me in the days after announcing the Fair Play farewell. So, I can't share those messages. I probably wouldn't have anyway since it didn't feel right. Still, I appreciated those comments very much.

I spent about an hour putting this issue together, including the time it took to scan some pictures. There are some gems here from previous issues which I consider valuable and worth keeping up for a while. I'll probably delete them and put up some more old stuff at some point in the future, but I don't know when.
