It has been said that the American people are the only jury that Lee Harvey Oswald will ever have. It is our responsibility, then, to examine with utmost care and objectivity the evidence for and against him, and to reach an independent verdict.
Fair Play Issue #29, July-August, 1999
In This Fair Play...
- The ARRB's Final Report was delivered to Congress and President Bill Clinton at the end of September.
- A Gift from Boris Boris Yeltsin turned over a report on Russian information relating to JFK's assassination. Will it tell us anything really worthwhile? Don't hold your breath.
- In the meantime, see this analysis by Chris Courtwright.
- For the latest, check LancerLine.
- Some of the documents in question are already on the Web.
- Coffin Dumped An astonishing revelation about one of JFK's caskets surfaced over the Memorial Day weekend.
- The Death of Dr. Humes The head of the Bethesda autopsy team succumbed to lung cancer in May.
- Addendum This is a postscript to "The Assassination of John F. Kennedy as Coup d' Etat," by Christopher Sharrett, which appeared in the previous issue.
- We Know the Truth is author Gaeton Fonzi's address to the 1998 November in Dallas conference, on accepting Lancer's "Pioneer" award.
- A Lawyer's Dissenting View is one of the first, if not the first, published articles challenging the Warren Commission findings. In this piece Vincent J. Salandria dissects the Warren Commission analysis of shots, trajectories and wounds.
- The Zapruder Film Abraham Zapruder's heirs continue their tussle with the government over the film's worth. A related ongoing question is whether this film of JFK's murder is authentic. Josiah Thompson argues that it is. Jerrold Smith offers an opposing point of view.
- Two Book Reviews This is a contrast in new and old. New Orleans Declassified is John Kelin's review of Bill Davy's new book, Let Justice Be Done. Also presented is a "belated review" of Josiah Thompson's Six Seconds in Dallas, by Jerrold Smith.
- Dealey Plaza Live You can check out Dealey Plaza 24-and-7, thanks to a newly installed camera and the World Wide Web. And just for fun, we present here a small item about the Sixth Floor Museum, by Fair Play editor John Kelin.
- Miscellanea, Errata, Et Cetera is a collection of stuff that didn't quite fit anywhere else.
- Updates From time to time, there is information we'd like to add, post-deadline, to Fair Play. We invite all readers to check back now and then to take a look at each of our two "Updates" files. ARRB Updates may have outlived its usefulness, now that the ARRB has expired. We'll keep it for the time being, just in case. Updates has various items that develop post-deadline; this file may well be empty.
- Who's Who and What's What What organizations are actively working toward resolving the JFK case? Where can you locate that hard-to-find assassination title? Fair Play presents a catalogue of the sources and resources we're aware of.
- JFK Bibliography A Fair Play listing of books relating to the Kennedy assassination.
- The ARRB On Tape Audio recordings of the Review Board meetings are now available at reduced prices. Here's info on how to get stuff.
- Reader Feedback A sampling of reader reaction to Fair Play, which first came online November 22, 1994.
- Excuses Those of us responsible for Fair Play.
- Some Interesting Links to JFK-related Web sites can be found in this file.
- Fair Play Back Issues are now available. Everything we've done (except regular features like the Bibliography) is now in one convenient archive.
