It has been said that the American people are the only jury that Lee Harvey Oswald will ever have. It is our responsibility, then, to examine with utmost care and objectivity the evidence for and against him, and to reach an independent verdict.
Fair Play Issue #10, May-June, 1996
In This Fair Play...
- The ARRB at the Organization of American Historians The ARRB made a presentation to the OAH in Chicago recently. Joseph Backes attended and has this review and analysis.
- Arlen Specter and the Missing Parkland Witnesses Doctors with potentially crucial testimony about President Kennedy's wounds were not called by the Warren Commission. Article by Brad Parker.
- Forward with Considerable Violence That's how Kennedy's head moves in the Zapruder film --- right? Well, no. But that's how CBS correspondent Dan Rather described it to the nation, in the aftermath of the assassinati
on. A transcript of the description is within this article by John Kelin.
- Oswald is an article by Ruth Paine, written in the wake of the assassination. In it, Mrs. Paine pretty much tells the same story she would go on to tell for years. It is worth contrasting with some research presented last fal
l at the Second Annual COPA conference; there's a link to this research at the conclusion of the Paine article. There is also, within Mrs. Paine's text, a link to contrasting police testimony.
- A Trip to Dallas In this repeat of an article from Issue #3 of Fair Play, editor John Kelin describes a visit to Big D in the fall of 1993. Looking back, this article now strikes us as a tad naïve. But we're pre
senting it anyway, enhanced with some original photographs, in glowing black and white. There are even more photos in a second file; they're separate from the main article for faster loading. But read the main article first, and
the update you'll find at its conclusion.
- JFK 101 No, this isn't a college course. This article comes from the introductory remarks to David R. Wrone's annotated JFK bibliography, which appeared in the mid-1970s. The bibliography itself (not included) is a bit dated,
although we were able to incorporate portions of it into the Fair Play bibliography (see below). Though they are nearly twenty years old, Dr. Wrone's observations still make excellent reading. (Also check out Wrone's comments on Gerald Posner and Case Closed, in an article that recently circulated on a JFK email group.
- Miscellanea, Errata, Et Cetera This file contains a variety of stuff that didn't quite fit anywhere else.
- Updates From time to time, there is information we'd like to add, post-deadline, to Fair Play. We invite all readers to check back now and then to take a look at each of our two "Updates" files. ARRB Updates
a> is a collection of press releases from the Records Review Board. Updates has various items that develop post-deadline; this file may well be empty.
- Who's Who and What's What What organizations are actively working toward resolving the JFK case? Where can you locate that hard-to-find assassination title? Fair Play presents a catalogue of the sources and resources
we're aware of.
- JFK Bibliography A Fair Play listing of books relating to the Kennedy assassination.
- Reader Feedback A sampling of reader reaction to Fair Play, which first came online November 22, 1994.
- Excuses Those of us responsible for Fair Play.
- Some Interesting Links to JFK-related Web sites can be found in this file.
- Fair PlayBack Issues are now available. Everything we've done (except regular features like the Bibliography) is now in one convenient archive.
