  • Before Summit County was formed in 1840 Bath Township belonged to several other counties. The date of 1800 has been used as a reference point since it is close to the 1803 date when Ohio became a state.

  • 1800 to 1808: The area of Bath Twp was in Trumbull County.

  • 1808 to 1812: The area of Bath Twp was in Portage County.

    Bath Township Cemeteries

    The following information is being provided to give you an idea of the location, or approximate location, of all known township cemeteries. It will also help identify any cemeteries where the gravestones or burial records have been copied, and if known, where this information can be found.

    Inscriptions for several cemeteries in this township can be found in the book Summit County Cemetery Inscriptions, Volume I which was published in 1978 by the Summit County Chapter, OGS. This book also includes burials from Copley and Norton Twps.

    BATH CENTER CEMETERY:    (published in Vol 1, pp 3-21)
    Established about 1813. Located at 1255 N Cleveland-Massillon Road. On the northeast corner of N Cleveland-Massillon Road and Bath Road at the Grange Hall.

    EAST BATH CEMETERY - a.k.a. SHADE ROAD CEMETERY:
    (published in Vol I, pp 21 - 22)Located at 2902 Shade Road. On the south side of Shade Road, west of Revere Road.

    HALE CEMETERY - a.k.a. IRA CEMETERY or CRANZ CEMETERY:
    Earliest burials about 1829. Located at 2499 Ira Road. At the intersection of Oak Hill Road and Ira Road. Within view of the Hale Farm Homestead.

    MOORE'S CHAPEL CEMETERY - a.k.a. SHAW'S CEMETERY:
    Established before 1879. Located at 1631 North Hametown Road. On the east side of North Hametown Road, between Bath Road and Ira Road.

    ROSE HILL CEMETERY:
    Established in 1920 - records available from the Cemetery. Located at 3653 W Market St; Akron OH. West of Chapel Hill Mall at the junction of Smith Road, W Market St and Medina Road (Rt 18).

    STONY HILL CEMETERY - a.k.a. MILLER CEMETERY: (published in Vol 1, pp 22-26)
    Established about 1833. On the north side of Medina Road (RT 18) between Hametown Road and Crystal Lake Road. Barely visibly from the road as it is down an embankment.
