SATURDAY, AUGUST 17, 8:00 PM THE PLANETS URANUS & NEPTUNE: Gas giant planets will appear as tiny bluse and green discs high in the southern night sky. SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 14, 7:00 PM THE AUTUMN CONSTELLATIONS: Tour of Taurus, Aries, Piscs, Aquarius, and Sagittarius. SATURDAY, OCTOBER 12, 7:30 PM OPEN HOUSE & STAR PARTY: Random observing. SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 18, 7:00 PM THE LEONID METEOR SHOWER: Last year's meteor "storm" may be repeated. SATURDAY, DECEMBER 7, 7:00 PM OPEN HOUSE & STAR PARTY: Random observing. * In case of inclement weather the program will be cancelled, if in doubt call. * Areas in and around the observatory are dimly lit, please use caution. A restroom is available. * Dress as you would for outdoor activities: in spring and summer, a lightweight jacket and insect repellant are suggested; in winter, several layers of clothing, cap, and gloves are suggested. Lawn chairs or blankets can add to observing comfort. * Bring a pair of binoculars or your telescope if you have one. |
